Shop Policies
18 and over: UK law prohibits anyone under the age of 18 from getting a tattoo. And no, we cannot/will not accept parent or guardian consent. You must be at least 18 years old and you must provide a valid government-issued photo ID in order to get tattooed.
Pricing: Tattoos are usually priced by the hour but an estimated quote can be given once the tattoo, it’s size and it’s placement are decided upon. However, please keep in mind that quoting tattooing time is not an exact science and is only an ESTIMATE. Also, consider that full sleeves and backs can take a while. E.g, a black & grey sleeve could take at least 20 hours on a small arm! If you can’t sit very well, or you have a large amount of small intricate detail, it could be twice that or even longer. You will be billed at the current hourly rate of £80, starting at your scheduled appointment time. Billing will be for all tattooing and tattooing related services, including, but not limited to:
- Time used to edit or resize the tattoo design if needed.
- Time used to apply tattoo stencils to the body.
- Time used to assemble tattoo equipment and open sanitary supplies in front of you, or to replenish necessary supplies during the tattoo session.
- All breaks during the tattoo appointment requested by you.
- Lateness on your part of 1-20 minutes for any reason.
NOTE: For any tattoo that takes 30 minutes or less you will be charged a flat rate of £40.
Deposit & Payments: ALL tattoo bookings require a NON_REFUNDABLE deposit (payable by PayPal/bank transfer) once the piece and placement are agreed upon. The deposit (Amount depends on the tattoo) will secure your appointment date and artist, and will cover the costs of consultations and sketches of the design. The deposit will be deducted from the overall cost of the tattoo and for multi-session tattoos, the deposit will be held as payment towards the last session. In the case of a cancellation or no show it covers time lost and all other preparations done prior to the appointment.
Deposits will be forfeited in full in the case of:
- Not appearing for a tattoo appointment (No show).
- Cancelling or rescheduling an appointment without giving at least 48 hours notice.
- Arriving more than 20 minutes late to a tattoo appointment.
- Rescheduling 3 or more times for any sessions of the same tattoo, regardless of notice.
- Failing to reschedule a new appointment within 48 hours of a cancelled appointment.
- Arriving at a tattoo appointment without government-issued identification.
These rules are in place to whittle out hasty and spur of the moment bookings and time wasters. Please help us to ensure each existing client gets the time and consideration they deserve.
NOTE: If the finished design is not to your liking, minor changes will be made at the artist's discretion. However, substantial changes to the design or the request of an entirely new drawing or draft will require a new deposit, and the original deposit will be forfeited as payment for the artist's drawing time.
Cancellations/Reschedules/No Show: It’s understandable that sometimes the need to reschedule or cancel an appointment is unavoidable and most of them are for valid, and unpredictable reasons. With that said if you need to reschedule or cancel, any and all changes must be made 48 hours before your appointment time. You will be issued with a credit note (no refunds), and this will be credited towards your re-booking. Any changes or cancellations after this time, or if you are a no show, will result in loss of deposit (no exceptions) and a new deposit will be required within 48 hours to reschedule your appointment or to prevent cancellation of future appointments if any are scheduled. Short notice changes to a schedule will cause an artist to lose tattooing and drawing time, which isn’t fair to other clients who are also waiting for availability. Please ensure that you are 100% committed to getting a tattoo and that you are available for the tattoo date before booking to avoid any potential disappointments. I would very much appreciate the respect in giving me plenty of notice if you wish to cancel your appointment.
Waiting list: As appointments become available, they will be offered to ongoing clients first and then to new clients that are on the waiting list. Any cancellations will be offered in the same manner. In order to remain fair to those who are already on the waiting list, any major area/design/concept change or multiple, consecutive cancellations/reschedules, or no shows will result in forfeit of deposit, cancellation of future appointments and you being added back to the waiting list.
NOTE: It is advised to book multiple sessions in advance as lapsing outside of 2 months between sessions will cause you to lose priority, be added back onto the waiting list, and may ultimately result in a lapse in coherence with the direction of your tattoo.
Touch-Ups: Courtesy touch-ups are done at the discretion of the tattoo artist. Necessary touch-ups related to the technical application or healing of a tattoo are free of charge if done within 6 months of your tattoo appointment, unless the tattoo is on a non-guaranteed body part (see below). Touch-ups cannot be done until the tattoo is fully healed. Touch-ups due to client negligence or failure to follow our aftercare procedures are not free and will be charged the same rate as a new tattoo. The painted prince can not be held responsible for poor aftercare once you have left the studio. Please follow the aftercare sheet.
If your tattoo is on a non-guaranteed body part it may require multiple touch-ups and may be charged as a new tattoo each time. Non-guaranteed body parts include: THE HEAD, FACE, GENITALS, HANDS (INCLUDING FINGERS) OR FEET. None of these can be guaranteed and may not be eligible for free touch ups.
NOTE: Changes to the original agreed upon tattoo are not considered a touch-up and will be charged as a new tattoo.
Guests: You may only bring one guest to accompany you whilst you get tattooed and your guest must be over the age of 18. Out of respect to the artist who needs to focus and to you the client who needs to be relaxed, any excess guests or disruptive guests will be asked to leave. Children or minors are not permitted in the tattooing area at any time. Please be aware that tattoo shops are intended for adults only and even an accompanied minor in the waiting area may hear adult language or see some nudity.
Image Rights: The shop has unrestricted rights to use any image taken within its premises. You might be asked to have your photo taken. By agreeing, you grant The Painted Prince unrestricted right to use the images taken for promotional or editorial purposes. Any restrictions or questions you have must be clearly and immediately mentioned, short of which it is considered that you approve the above terms
Custom Tattoos: Out of respect for the original artist and the collector, we will not copy or duplicate any custom tattoo or tattoo design. This applies to custom tattoos we have created for our clients as well as tattoos found online. If you really like a tattoo that an artist has done, please ask said artist to create something similar or inspired by that tattoo for you. Remember we can (and prefer to) customise a design specifically for you and for your body.
NOTE: Tattoos on flash sheets are meant to be duplicated and can be tattooed many times, with or without customization.
Refunds: There are NO REFUNDS for any reason. In the unlikely event of a mistake it is the duty of the artist to fix it for free. There is always something that can be done. Please contact the studio as soon as possible to allow us to find the best & quickest solution.
Gift Vouchers: All gift vouchers are valid for 6 months from the date of purchase and are NON-REFUNDABLE and CANNOT be returned under any circumstances. Gift vouchers will expire after the date shown on your voucher, this date CANNOT be extended. Any Gift Vouchers presented after their expiry date will be treated as void and cannot be exchanged or refunded.
NOTE: If expired, a gift voucher cannot be reinstated for any reason.
It is the voucher holders responsibility to make sure that any gift vouchers are used before their expiry date. If booking is left too close to the expiry date to get an appointment the voucher date will NOT be extended. Please make sure you book well in advance to avoid any disappointment. We at the Painted Prince are NOT responsible in any way for reminding you when your voucher is due to expire.
GIFT VOUCHERS CANNOT BE EXCHANGED FOR CASH OR USED TO PURCHASE MORE GIFT VOUCHERS.
As previously mentioned, a deposit is required to secure a tattoo appointment, this can be taken from your voucher value. Our cancellation policy still applies with voucher deposits. A deduction will be made from the value of your voucher if you do not attend your appointment or do not give the required 48 hours notice to cancel.
Gift vouchers must be present with the customer at the time of use in order to use as payment or deposit. They cannot be replaced if lost/stolen or destroyed and change will not be given on any purchase made.
Painted Prince reserves the right to refuse to accept a Gift Voucher which it deems to have been tampered with, duplicated, damaged or which otherwise is suspected to be affected from fraud.
Painted Prince reserves the right to change any of these terms and conditions at any time without notice and to take appropriate action including cancellation of the voucher if it deems such action necessary.
Applicable to over 18s only. The gift voucher/use of the gift voucher is for persons of 18 years old and over.
